The right treatment for a foot and ankle condition can vary from patient to patient. A lot depends on a patient’s medical history, as well as their lifestyle, goals, and needs on a day-to-day basis.

We offer a wide range of services, from state-of-the-art medical technology to tried-and-true traditional practices. Among these, however, we feel the greatest service we can provide is fully listening to our patients and molding the best specific treatment program for them.

More information on our service specialties can be found below. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, we’re happy to help! Simply call us at (512) 328-8900 or fill out our online contact form.

Surgical Procedures

While conservative treatment methods are always preferred, they sometimes do not or will not provide the type of relief a patient requires. In these cases, surgery becomes a consideration.

The doctors at Austin Foot and Ankle Specialists have advanced training and years of experience in many surgical procedures, ranging from reconstructive surgeries (e.g. bunion and hammertoe surgeries), joint replacement, ankle arthroscopy, and nerve decompression.

Regenerative Medicine and Procedures

Although it might sound like science fiction on the surface, regenerative medicine simply involves treatments that use the body’s own tools for recovery in its favor.

Treatments under this specialty may use perinatal tissue and growth factors (stem cell materials) or platelet rich plasma to accelerate healing of an injury, relieve pain, and reduce inflammation. The recovery systems of the body are stimulated and enhanced, promoting healing at the targeted area.

Another form of stimulation is Multiwave Locked System (MLS) Laser Therapy. This method uses specific wavelengths of light energy to encourage additional blood flow to an area and encourage accelerated cellular repair. It is a painless, minimally invasive form of treatment.

Fungal Nail Laser Treatment

While lasers can be used to treat pain and inflammation, a different form of laser therapy can attack stubborn fungal toenail infections.

We use the HyperBlue 1530 laser to send concentrated light energy through layers of nail to eradicate fungus where it lives. All of this is done while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed (in other words, we’re not burning a hole through your nail).

This form of treatment is safe, virtually painless, and has very few to no side effects. After several treatments, many patients begin to see new, clear nails growing in to replace those that were ravaged by fungus.

Custom Orthotics

Many forms of heel and foot pain can be traced to an abnormal foot structure. This can affect the way someone walks and distribute weight unevenly across the feet, leading to some areas being overloaded with stress and becoming injured.

Custom orthotics and braces are time-tested methods of providing needed comfort and relief. Each orthotic is prescribed specifically to the shape of a patient’s foot or ankle, providing the exact amount of cushioning and/or corrective support they need.

Custom orthotics and braces can also be used as part of offloading weight from an area that needs to heal, as well as a method for increasing balance in patients who are at higher fall risks.
